Garden Route and Addo
The Garden Route works when it is treated as a chain of different landscapes—not one scenic road: lagoons, indigenous forest, fynbos, river mouths, surf coast and Eastern Cape wildlife each need their own time.
Southern Cape coast from Mossel Bay through Tsitsikamma, with Addo in the Eastern Cape

Activities and nearby stories
Each guide answers a different planning question, so travellers can go deeper without reading the same story repeatedly.
Build the journey around bases, not daily packing
Choose two or three bases and explore outward. Constant hotel changes waste the same daylight travellers came to enjoy, while a slower route creates room for weather, forest walks and local food.
Do not reduce the Garden Route to beaches
The national park protects indigenous forest, fynbos, lakes, rivers and rugged coast. A strong itinerary mixes at least one trail, one water or lagoon experience, and time in a town whose economy extends beyond roadside tourism.
Add Addo as a real safari, not an afternoon afterthought
Addo lies beyond the core Garden Route and deserves dedicated wildlife time. One or two nights around the main game area is more credible than racing from the coast, checking a waterhole and returning late.
