Book the permit before building the holiday
Permit availability determines the date. Use Rwanda's official or properly authorised booking channel, verify the traveller details and read the current cancellation and health conditions before paying for surrounding flights or lodges.
Prepare for an unknown route
Trackers follow the gorillas' current location, so no company can honestly promise an easy walk. Fitness, rain, mud, altitude and vegetation all affect the day. A porter supports both the traveller and the local economy.
The gorillas control the encounter
Keep the ranger-directed distance, stay quiet, avoid flash and never imitate, touch or feed an animal. If a gorilla moves closer, follow instructions rather than moving for a better photograph.
